Anna Tukuitoga: Breaking the mould of country music in NZ

It might be the home of a certain carbonated drink but Paeroa is also home to an up-and-coming Pacific Islands country star, Anna Tukuitoga. The 17-year-old began singing from as young as 3, where her talent was discovered by a caregiver. Since then, Anna has ventured near and far to promote her love for Country Music as well as showcase her talents to a variety of audiences. In 2020 she was named the Country Youth Ambassador by the NZCMA (New Zealand Country Music Association), where she has high hopes to encourage and inspire more Pacific people, especially women, to thrive in the genre. Reporter Hanalei Foliaki met her in her hometown.
