Hi friends, in this video we are going to make Ney pathiri and Varutharacha chicken curry. Pathiri is a pancake made of rice flour. It is a Malabar special dish. There are different varieties of Pathiri. Such as Neypathiri, poricha pathiri, meen pathiri, irachi pathiri. Today, we are going to make Ney Pathiri and Varutharacha Chicken Curry to go with it. It is usually made for breakfast or dinner and served with meat or fish curries. You can even serve this as a snack. Do try this and let me know your feedback. MAKE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE!!! Ingredients: For Ney pathiri: Rice flour - 1 cup Coconut - ¼ cup Pearl onions - 2 Cumin seeds - ½ tsp Hot water - as needed For Varutharacha Chicken Curry: Chicken - 1 kg Coconut oil - 4 tbsp + 1 tsp Cinnamon - 1 inch Cloves - 4 Cardamom - 2 Fennel seeds - 1 tbsp Black pepper - 1 tbsp Coriander seeds - 1 ½ tbsp Poppy seeds - ½ tbsp Coconut - ¼ cup Red chilies - 3 Curry leaves - few Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp Chili powder - 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp Pearl onions - 6 Tomato - 1 Potatoes - 2 (optional) Method: For Ney pathiri: Crush coconut, pearl onions, cumin seeds together. In a bowl, add rice flour. Add salt to taste and mix. Add the crushed coconut mixture and mix them. Add hot water little by little and knead them into a soft dough. Take a plastic sheet. Spread some oil on that. Take a small lemon sized ball from the dough. Keep it on the plastic cover. Top it with another plastic sheet. Press it with the flat plate. Don’t make it too thin. Heat oil enough to deep fry. Place the pathiris carefully on the hot oil and wait until it puffs up. Wait for 30 seconds and flip it over and fry for another 30 seconds. Ney Pathiri is ready. For Varutharacha chicken curry: Wash the chicken well. Add turmeric powder, chili powder, ginger garlic paste, salt to taste and mix everything together. Let them marinate until you get other things ready for the curry. Heat a pan, add a tsp of coconut oil, add cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, fennel seeds, black pepper, coriander seeds, poppy seeds and fry for a minute. Add coconut and fry until it changes color. Add red chilies and curry leaves and fry for another minute. Let them cool. Grind them into a smooth paste. Heat a pan, add 4 tbsp of coconut oil, add chopped pearl onions and fry until it gets translucent. Add chopped tomato and fry until it gets mushy. Add the marinated chicken and stir for 5 minutes. Add the ground paste and mix. Add salt to taste. Mix everything together. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add potatoes and mix and cook until the chicken and potatoes are completely cooked. Add water according to your desired consistency. Check for salt. Add some fresh coriander leaves on top. Serve with Ney Pathiri.
