@della988410 months ago I love this more casual talk and how you talking about your personal experience. Emotions definitively have an impact on our hair because stress can cause hair loss or weaken the hair.
    Length retention>>>> hair growth
If you're healthy your hair is going to grow and it doesn't matter how fast if you cannot keep the length. That's why we have to use methods, tools etc to avoid unnecessary damage, breakage, tangling and low manipulation styles to retain the length!!!
Everyone is weirdly obsessed with increasing the hair growth rate and yes scalp health matters too but you have to retain the length to see the growth. Thank you so much for pointing that out!!!

@kripplek10 months ago My brother is a somatic massage therapist. He helps people release the emotions that your body holds on to and will store in places all over the body. This happens with every day emotions and traumatic events. Sometimes people can let go intellectually and emotionally but because your body hasn't released it, you'll continue to struggle with things. Our bodies are fascinating ... 12

@ceystal10 months ago This was great to listen to while i was also detangling. For those looking for an alternative to coconut oil, babassu oil is very similar where it melts at room temperature and has the ability to penetrate the hair cuticle but its also alot lighter. My hair hates coconut oil but likes babassu oil. ... 17

@kristinamilionta556810 months ago Thank you for everything! I've been following for a few months - dove out of an abusive relationship and couldn't shower without triggering hours of panic attacks. So I dove into natural/historical haircare so I didn't have to wash my hair so much.
As someone who had tailbone length hair as a kid bc my mom wouldn't let me cut it (I got teased for having a tail sticking out from my jacket for 13 years), I never imagined I would leave my bobbed Pixie hair behind.
After seeing some of your videos during 2020 I came back and found all the things I needed. And without TRYING my hair has grown about a foot in 9 months.
EVEN WITH being nearly stqrv3d to death by my ex last summer. And then not being able to eat real food for months because my body was so malnourished.
My haircare routine has become my PEACE. It is sooooo relaxing and I adore my hair. Thanks too for including ayurvedic recipes! I'm on my way to becoming an ayurvedic practioner and I love seeing those tools out in the world!
Big hugs and congrats on your move!❤❤❤

@claudeclawsonne45109 months ago a pomade of lard and beeswax has become my main source for detangling my hair and also correcting dry skin as well as using the18th C. haircare treatment of powdering my hair. I've been using this ever since by hair finally went all-grey. My hair has always been thin and prone to falling out but they finally concluded my thyroid wasn't working very well so now I take a pill for that and that helps. But I powder my hair instead of washing it with water, because powdering both acts as a dry shampoo and thickens my thin hair. The lard matches the oils our bodies make and it is very kind to our skin and hair. i think I'd be bald now if it weren't for me stumbling on the antique method of hair care. ... 3

@BionAvastar30009 months ago Every time I try to detangle my hair dry I just see pieces falling. Wet is the only way for me. Also, the curlier your hair is, the more salt bonds you have, so very tightly coily hair does detangle better because curly hair is stronger wet than straight or wavy hair. You gotta do what works for you. :) ... 2

@niczen442810 months ago Thank you for this video. It was really helpful. As you were talking about people saying hair is dead there's nothing you can do about it, it made me think of wooden furniture or floorboards, or even the horn comb i'm thinking of buying. You are meant to oil or wax them now and then, as well, even though they are also "dead", to protect them and moisturise them and stop them cracking. ... 2

@inakaupisch895910 months ago Absolutely interesting watching you while detangling your hair, not only a previous video.
I do wonder about "growing hair" and "retaining hair length", because in all time I can remember, most of my hair wouldn't grow further than finger length. So to me an even chin-to-shoulder length (with fine, kind of wavy/curly hair) would be quite long and thick.
Yes, I would love to grow long hair. But firstly I want to care my hair, even when it stays like it is, and to treat hair and scalp alike with respect and love.

@prashantiyoga355410 months ago My hair went to hell postpartum both times 😣 The first time, the hair fall started when I was at my parents. It clogged their drain so badly that they needed to call a plumber out.
My hair has gone through similar hair fall events due to ill health over the years, and it's so upsetting every time. Most recent was from having c-vid and then influenza last year. I lost at least 60% of my hair, if not more. It's only just started to come back at the start of the year, and I currently have a hellscape of 3-4inch long hair growing through what was left of my hair, which is around shoulder blade length. I literally just detangled and applied oil to my hair before putting this video on, and it's a s*** show 😅

@sarahchaprobin3210 months ago I always finger detangle first and from the top down too. It just work so much better from top down rather than bottom to top. And totally agree that it’s better to use your fingers for the sensory feedback - much gentler on the hair as a result. Also nice to be more connected with one’s own hair. Also I prefer dry detangling. Once in a while I will do a big detangle in a progression from fingers to wide tooth comb to close tooth comb. Then finish with a boar bristle brush. But mostly just with the fingers. ...
