Building a zero waste city needs the involvement of every household

Data from China's official Xinhua News Agency suggests that about 26,000 tonnes of garbage is generated everyday in the city by the 22 million-plus people who live there. There is still a long way towards the scenario depicted in the concept of a zero-waste city which sees a city eventually recycling all the waste it produces. Liu Hua, a policy advisor at Shenzhen Zero Waste, an environmental NGO that focuses on chemicals and waste management, believes that ideal requires the involvement of every household.
